Programming
I programmed my first computerised lighting desk over 20 years ago (a Strand GSX!).
I’ve been programming professionally on the ETC Eos range of console for about 7 years now, and have toured with them extensively, relighting moving-light heavy shows.
In January 2019 I had the opportunity to work on FringeWorld festival in Perth, Australia. This was my first interaction with a GrandMA2 console, and a spiegeltent! In the space of a few short weeks I spent hundreds of hours behind the console, both programming cue-stacked shows and busking mostly cabaret shows. That’s one way to learn a desk quickly!
I was hooked on the MA2, so in the time since I’ve programmed two full scale musicals back home in Edinburgh and worked on Sydney and Adelaide festivals, this time in a slightly bigger spiegeltent!
In February 2021 I took the plunge and invested in my own personal lighting desk, a GrandMA 3 onPC command wing, which I am now able to supply to clients around Edinburgh.
